I put some bamboo into the tank for decoration and it was gone by morning. Is it ok to feed the turtle bamboo more often, and on purpose? I figure it would be a good way to do something with that out of control plant I've got and keep her happy.

I don't think anybody really knows whether or not bamboo is good/bad for turtles. Bamboo DOES have a lot of fiber and nutrients. However, most of the calories in bamboo comes from sugar, which isn't too optimal for turtles.

idk about eating, but if the leaves are in the water it can release harmful chemicals that will most likely harm the turtle, as it can kill fish.

so make sure if it grows leaves, u trim them off or make sure they have grown out of the water

Is it real bamboo shoots or "lucky" bamboo? The lucky kind is not really bamboo and I think is poisonous to cats, not sure about turtles.

I think based on the other posts you shouldn't feed them bamboo..

"Lucky" bamboo kills hermit crabs too, so avoid it. There shouldn't be a problem with small amounts of real bamboo.

I wouldn't take the chance.

Well,I wouldn't do it,because really most people know hardly anything about bamboo,and they're can be chemicals on/in the bamboo.

going back to the bamboo, i think the bamboo should be stuck to pandas and not to moving them to turtles. so yea stick to the pellets please?
