I swear to god, people, I am not spamming, I'm not advertising this site, because it's not the best site in the world in my opinion. I just like their prices.

They are selling cuttlebone for 97 cents.

We should all take advantage of that.

They have tropical fruit flavored cuttlebone too. I'd never buy it, but I think it's cute.

Edit: I just found this too, it's kind of attractive: http://www.petdiscounters.com/Sand-Doll ... p4276.html

97 cents for one cuttlebone? That sounds like a rip off to me.

The sanddollars are interesting though. I wonder if they would work.

It depends on where you are. Here, walmart sells cuttle bone for $2 for a medium sized bone  But I found a local store that sells bulk, and it works out much cheaper. Before I found the local store, if I ever saw a cuttlebone for under $1, I'd scoop a whole bunch of them.

The sand dollars are interesting though...

Yeah, like Bulldog said, depends on where you're at. I thought for sure I'd find it for like, 5 dollars or something, knowing the way pet supplies are usually priced.

I'm gonna try them out, and see how they work. They're kind of pretty too, and meant to be in the water, so I'm not worried about them dissolving like I would the cuttlebone.

You might be interested to know that there is a $4.95 shipping charge on the cuttlebone. It sounds cheaper to hunt for bulk cuttlebone at local pet stores.

Here's a 6-pack of 5" cuttlebone from PetCo for $2.49, that's less than 50 cents for each. I bought one of these in the store for like $3, and it lasts a long time. I'm not a fan of buying consumable supplies online, though, because shipping is always way too much.

Umm... since we're talking about cheap cuttlebones, the ones I got costed me
about 50 cents (US dollar) for a total volume of around a fuji apple. The seller
weighed instead of counted them and I got cuttlebones varying in size.

Then again, I got mine from a traditional market. And the market is known as
a market for pets and small animals.

;)

Wow, I forgot I made this thread.

It's easier for me to order online, since I don't have a car to drive out to the pet store every time I turn around.

I think though, that the shipping charge is kind of a bummer for some people.

So whats the deal with the sand dollars?

Can they be used instead of cuttlebone? Do they float? Sink?

They sometimes float for a while, then eventually sink.

My turtles eat them, and seem to like them a lot.

Sand dollars are a little bit harder than cuttlebone, and you can hear your turtle(s) crunching underwater. Just make sure they don't eat the hard center. My turtles spit it out, but I don't know that all turtles do that.
