Baby RES Not Interested In Veggies At All

Hi y'all,

My RES Charlotte is almost 8 weeks old and i've had her for a little over a month now. When I first got her she had an RI and would only eat tuna. I'm happy to report though that she's made a full recovery and LOVES her pellets (I feed her 4 a day - careful not to overfeed), she's such a piggy :)

Since day 1, i've been offering her all kinds of veggies to feed turtles. She is completely not interested. i've even tried soaking the veggies in tuna water, but she just kinda sniffs them and swims away. I've also tried some aquatic plants but that also dosen't seem to interest her.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my picky little girl to like veggies??

At a young age RES don't consume much vegetables. When they mature they may eat them. But for now stick with pellets, and tuna as treats. Offer veggies once a week.

You don't really have to concern yourself with feeding vegetables until the turtle
reaches a year old. :)

Although you don't have to concern yourself with it until the turtle's a year old, it's best if you continue to offer the veggies and lettuce anyway - it'll make it that much easier for you when the turtle gets older.

My turtle is only around a year old now, but he's been eating carrots and lettuce & veggies for about six months now and loves them.
