I have a female about 5 inches or so long (just a guess) and I started out feeding her twice a day as much as she could eat in a few minutes (per the instructions on the food). I later found out that this was overfeeding so I changed the diet to every other day and the amount being the size of her head. Since I've changed the diet, she swims around constantly and is behaving differently (more active). Is this a result of the change in diet? I also have another concern, I've heard that females can lay infertile eggs. Is it possible that she needs to lay eggs? Any insight would be helpful...

she is probably loosing weight making it easier for her to swim. and yes females will lay eggs. is she seems like she is trying to escape the tank or trying to dig with her back legs its a good sign she is trying to lay

Ok thanks...any tips for what I should do if she has infertile eggs? I've heard that they can be laid in water. She isn't housed with a male and when I bought her she appeared to be housed with another female...

she can still lay eggs even tho she was never with a male or with any other turtle. u can try to create an indoor nesting box or even an outdoor one but i dont thin many ppl on here have had much luck with indoor nesting boxes. and it is possibly she will lay them in the tank. she will end up laying them in whatever spot she decides is best

its prob because she thinks your going to feed her more and more like you used to. Mine do this alllll day if you walk near the tank because at first i used to feed them alot, but now i stick to about 1 or 2 times a day so they are consistently thinking there going to get food.

Yea, that's what I was kind of thinking...hopefully its not long before she gets used to the current schedule of feeding
