So I know its not healthy for them but can I use it to get them started on veggies? We dont eat romaine in this house so I dont want t buy it until they are eating veggies. Any ideas you have would be helpful.

Iceburg lettuce should only be fed rarely, if at all, since it doesn't have much nutritional value. How about getting some plain old green or red leaf lettuce?

the only lettuce we keep in the house is iceburg :/ and im not wanting to spend money on something i wont eat and the turtle wont eat...yet. we have other veggies i could try though? i just thought lettuce would be the easiest to introduce it to

actually more people have success starting with aquatic veggies and carrots.

You could also switch to eating red/green leaf lettuce, both are much better for you than iceberg

At least where I live, Romaine Lettuce is only $1.50, along with Red and Green Leaf Lettuce. Not that much to spend, in my opinion.

Buy it and make your own salad with whatever you don't feed him. I don't think your parents will say "OMG ROMAINE!!! I WILL NOT HAVE MY CHILD EATING SUCH LETTUCE!!" lol

Yeah lettuce is pretty cheap here 2 dollars the most. And i don't find a different taste in iceburg romaine or red leaf so my parents buy it all.

hmm i think a head of lettuce is $5.00 where we go. maybe were going to the wrong place! but they used to give me the "bad" leaves for my rabbits when i had 8 of them. the leaves arent bad they are just "not human quality"

Definitely get some green/red leaf. I usually buy the head, but you could see if it comes in a bag (it may be cheaper). Maybe tell your folks you want to try it and then share some with your turtle.

I loathe iceberg (personally)... there are so many other great greens in the world.
