Hi all, I'm new here.

I bought 2 RES babies off the cold streets of NYC 4 days ago. (They're both just over 1 inch long.)

They haven't eaten since I brought them home 4 days ago & I'm going mad, hoping they're not about to die on me.

I've tried feeding em
Nutrafin pellets,
TetraMin Tropical Crisps (they attempted to grab but gave up),
ZooMed's Can O Shrimp
lettuce
raw carrot (tiny piece)

I've tried many methods, too: waiting till the pellets get soft & holding them in the water & rubbing them against their mouths)

NOTHING WORKS?!

I've got a basking lamp going but still waiting for my water heater to be delivered. I keep changing their huge tank of tap water so it'll be warmer (it's no more than 60 degrees throughout home). Are these guys not eating because they're stressed or freezing? Help!

60 degrees is waaay too cold for them. When is your heater being delivered? This is really important - I'm from NY too and I know how cold it's getting. Is there any way to turn up your heat? Can you describe your set up? Do you have a basking area set up for them? What's the temp. of the basking area? You need to get them that heater ASAP. It's truly priority since the temps are so cold now.

what i used to do before i got a tank for my turtles was put warm water and as it got cold, id change it and continuously did that. at younger ages, turtles can be easy and vulnerable to get sick so be very careful. make sure their acting normal and doing what they normally do. make sure the temp is between 70 and 82 degrees F as well.

also, new turtles are very shy and dont tend to eat once their kept. after a while, they'll feel comfortable and start eating. give it some time
