How often to feed???

I need clarification on something! :)

I have read everywhere to feed your RES every second day, approx a head's worth of pellets. Is that too little? My 2 RES's act like they are starving all the time - begging, splashing, and basically going nuts every time I stand up in the living room. I know they will beg for food, but is it possible I'm not feeding them enough? I'm also giving them occasional veggies or protein, so I know they aren't starving, but they sure act like it!

thanks!

Red Ear Sliders are just like fish, and when I say this i mean they will literaly eat them self to death. If you over feed them it can kill them, cause health problems in the future with there shell, stuff like that. turtles have a slow metabolism so it takes them a while to digest there food. What i would consider doing is do 1 day of pellets and one day of veggies/live fish. That usually works out pretty good but yeah, turtles will want food 24/7 7 days a week 365 days a year but its your job to control that urge and feed them as they need it :)

Veggies should definitely be part of the regular diet... http://www.redearslider.com/plants.html
