Bug Problem

We have an automatic feeder for our RES and there are little insects that seem to enjoy the food as much as he does. I have put some bay leaves near the feeder, and that is keeping the number of invaders down, but I was wondering if it would be safe to put a bay leave inside the feeder. The little critters are still getting inside the feeder, and I think if I lay a bay leaf in there, they will stay away completely -- I just don't want to harm our RES.

Any suggestions?

I don't know about them, check the safe/poisonous list for plants. As for handling the bugs, maybe try not using the feeder and clean the area around the tank.

Instead of bay leaves try green cedar leaves... not in the feeder but around it. Bugs hate cedar.
