Am I doing this right?

I have 3 baby red eared sliders. I feed them every morning and every night. I have noticed they reduced to eat the pellets for baby turtles or the sticks. The only thing I can get them to eat is the dried shrimp and live plants. After reading a few posts, I am second guessing if I am doing right as a lot of people on here state that you aren't supposed to feed them shrimp more often than once a week. I want to do what's best for my babies but they will spit the pellets and sticks out and not eat unless it's a live plant or shrimp. Am I hurting them?

Welcome to the site! What kind of pellets are you using for them?

I am turtle sitting my daughter's turtle. He does not eat any pellets but only shrimp. He is healthy, active and alert but grew very little. Wouldn't it hurt the health of the turtle in the long run to only eat shrimp?

Yes, pretty much. If he's healthy, then cut out the shrimp completely and offer pellets/veggies. He'll eventually take it.

That sounds fine, though you can probably cut out the shrimp. Also be very careful with the amount you give them, it's easy to over feed them.
