I have two sliders, about 3 weeks old. I am feeding them in their tanks and one of the turtles seems to be eatting all the food while the other poor little guy hides.
So I will be seperating them and feeding them in seperate areas.
My question is, how high should I fill the feeding area? From what I've read they need water to swallow, yet I am worried about them drowning if the water is too high.
Also, is water out of the tap too cold for them in their feeding area?

Dont try to feed them in a container with cold water! The water should about the same temp as the tank water. It can be a little warmer, but never colder....Fill it with enough water to at least cover their shells, maybe an inch or two deeper.
Many turts will refuse to eat in a seperate container. At any rate give it a try, but dont stand there and stare, leave them alone for a few minutes.

Why are you worried that they will drown? You have plenty of water in thier living tank, right? They are great swimmers and won't drown unless something traps them under water.

RES love love, LOVE deep water. No they will not drown. Heck the water is much more deeper in the wild than it is in captivity..and they do just fine.
