Rated for up to 60 gallons and is only $35 compared to $45 Aquaclear 70. I'm really short on cash and this will only be for about 17 gallons of water so I need to know if it is any good as my brother will be leaving the store soon. Thanks for the help.

It's a good filter. I use an aqua tech 60 and a whisper 60 in my 60 gallon, and I now use another whisper 60 in my 20 gallon rubbermaid for my male and I do partial water changes weekly and I do a 100% water change in which I scrub everything and drain out all the water once a month, i never have a problem with ammonia. I'd say go for it. But I know the aqua clear is supposedly better....maybe you should save your money?

I told him to get it..there's little chance of saving as I have to pay back a small loan and look to buy a new dock as mine is about to sink (I have a small floating zoo med dock). I wanted to get the aquaclear but I don't have the finances. I currenty use a whisper filter and it is pretty good but it is the repto filter. Thanks for the help.

Nevermind. Told him not to get it..probably wont reach the water in my tank and with aquaclears you can get extensions. Oh well.

The water level is about four inches from the top of the tank. The intake tube would have to be pretty long because the one I tried before didn't reach..I can't fill it too high or my turtles will climb off the dock and out of the tank.

Can you get extension tubes? The Aquaclears have extension tubes... I think people have also used extra hose tubing to extend the intake tube.

adam, I think I told you elsewhere that I bought an extra extension tube when I bought my Aquaclear 70 (and it comes with two anyway). I've used the Aquaclear with a tank that was only half full and it will work (but the waterfall will be noisy unless you have a piece of plexiglass or something for the water to travel down before it hits the water).

Instead of buying a new dock, can you make a basking area and put the money toward the filter?

I wanted to get this whisper, however, I didn't think that the tube would be long enough to reach the water unlike the aquaclear.

I plan to make a new basking area with a crate, however, my Mom put pool toys in there like goggles and now it's been exposed to chlorine, so I sort of need another crate. Since I want to maxamize the size of the tank for now, I want to make the basking area but have some questions...I might need to make another thread. Thanks.
