Can a filter be too big?

I'm looking to get a new canister filter for my 75 gallon tank. I found good prices on the Rena XP3 and XP4. To save money, I'd like to buy the bigger one in case I ever get a bigger tank.

Do you think that the XP4 would be overkill? I had a feeling that the XP4 would put out too much water and make currents in the tank that the turtle might not like.

Nope, you should be fine with an XP4 on a 75 gallon tank. I have 800 gallons of filtration on my 240 gallon tank.

Overfiltration is very difficult to achieve, especially in a larger tank. :)

Great. I'll go for the XP4 then.

The bigger the better. I have a 400 on my 150 and it's perfect.
