Hi, i have a 10 gallon and soon will upgrade to a bigger aquarium... i would like to get a 50gal

what would be a good filter not so expensive that would fit both applications.

fluval 1, 2?
aquaclear...etc?

i would spend up to 50bucks i guess its what i can spend... but still i see different prices online/store/ebay etc...
any suggestions?
i have fish there too now so i would like the water to be as clean as possible...

pictures were taken right after water change thats why it looks clean, after a week i HAVE to do a water change! =/

It's about 70 dollars with shipping but yeah. It looks like a Eheim filter though but I haven't heard of Jebo. That filter will work fine for a 50 gallon since it can cycle the water 5 times per hour.

Jebo is an Eheim wannabe (a copy). People have reported positive and negative things about them.

now is it any good... what was the lows?....

i prob cannot have it in a 10 gallon... it will have a huge water flow and i think my turtle wont be able to swim....

I've been thinking so i will keep on doing water changes... and soon when i upgrade to a bigger aquarium then i will get a bigger filter... i cannot have all that on top of my desktop 'workstation' in my room....

Tar-verd - When you get up to a 50 gallon tank you are getting out of the $50.00 dollar range. You do what you have to to get to the 5x rule which is a filter pump that puts out, at least, five times the volume of water you have in the tank. I have a 55 gallon with a Fluval 405 and it does a good job. I also have a 29 gallon with a Marineland Magnum 350 and that does a good job also. Keeping turtles is not a cheap hobby. Good Luck

I use a Cascade 400, and keep my 55 gallon full to about 40 - 45 gallons on average. It keeps the water very, very clear and clean. The water smells super clean too. The C400 cost me 40 dollars, and it's very easy to put together and clean.

The Fluval is also a very good and very popular filter, and also around the 40 to 50 dollar price range. For once turtle, in a 55 gallon, this is a good filter.

I got a Fluval 405 when I upgraded my tank. Great filter except for the "self priming" which isn't really self-priming. The good thing about it is you can adjust the water flow, so if you want to run it on a smaller tank you can. It's more expensive, but its worth it instead of continuing to buy little crappy filters that you have to upgrade every time you buy a larger tank.

a cascade 400 ..what type of turtles do u have in there that thing sucks so bad it didn't keep a hatching 20 gal long tank clear

I personally would not use a Aqua clear on anything higher than 40gallon

BY the way your filter is fine Just let the bio filter prosses go through your water might look muggy and cloudy but in couple weeks with 10 to 15% water it will clear up and stay clear but 10% to 15% nothing more nothing less!!!

U can by the way get a wishper 10i for your 10gallon with your hathcing

T-t-Verde - It makes no difference what filter you get as long as you stick to the 5x gph rule. I would suggest a Marineland 350 or a Fluval 405. I am using both of these at this time.

you are right... i already spent some $...
but i will keep my eyes on a bigger aquarium on craigs list..
...still looking for an affordable filter... i dont wanna spend more than 100then.... will only upgrade 2months from now... will have to save...

.... if i want the water clean...PAY FOR IT....lol....a good filter aint cheap!

i for the past two years have been serving the community and helping people in need so i put aside some of my 'desires' to help other u know...

so the turtle is my buddy heheh and i cant really spend too much since im not making $ . . .

do you suggest buying something used or no?

...save up for when the turtle grows and get a used aquarium? then a new filter?...

knowing my situation and my passion for animals... how much longer can i keep my RES in a 10gallon? ... i plan on building a basking area next week w/ the $30 i saved up... no junk food for 2months... and my turtle got all the guuudies...
