So, the birthday came and went...I got my python! Finally used it the other night and oh my gosh BEST THING EVER! They ought to just sell them as part of an aquarium package. Everyone should have one, lol.

Loved it enough I might just have to buy some of their apparel...like the shirt that says "our product sucks" lol.

My python didn't do a great job sucking. I still had to let it drain outside so its not a huge deal, but the filling went great.

It's slow, but it works. Overall, it's still quicker than lugging buckets. I made the mistake of sucking in air and I had to empty the whole line and start again. If there was an easier way to get it started, it was beyond me, lol.

It was great getting it setup... but the draining was just a trickle. Why would the whole line need to be emptied? Wouldn't you just reverse te flow again and let the line fill up?

I guess I can ask the question (regarding emptying the line & starting again because you sucked in air): can you reverse the flow of the valve as if you were filling up the tank, wait till the pipe fills up with water (forcing air out), then reverse the valve flow again to continue emptying the tank? I was wondering if that was a good way to get all the air out of the hose. Just curious if that works or not.

Good point, I'm not the brightest bulb in the bunch. Next time I'll do it on purpose just to make sure it works, lol. I'm a hands on person.

Well, you were far more eloquent than I am at explaing this, lol.

What I do is this.. I let the water flow as if to fill the tank.. make sure all the air is out of the vacuum part of the setup.. once i have that done, I flip the switch and turn off the water, you really have to make sure at this point that no air gets back in .. then go to the faucet and pull the part down that forces the water back out (suction) .. and then flip the switch so the water flows back.. it sounds much more complicated than it is

industrial - i agree with you 100% Because of my loss i'll be doing a complete change tomorow. And this will lead to many many 5 gal buckets being transported. But i guess at this point i can put the black bottom under it, and thus elminate the "endless bottom"

The white plastic part you put on the faucet on mine broke. So now I'm planning on getting brass one.

The pythons you buy now have already been upgraded with the brass adapter. I was excited about that!

Sweet deal! I'm looking into one, maybe a christmas present, but the thing is, i'm still unsure. It would be excelent to drain my 55 gal tank today!

Thats wierd that your python loses suction if you get air into the line, I've never had that problem myself. Maybe its because the water flow out of the faucet is like that out of a fire hose. Have you tried turning the water up?
