What are your opinions on these items? I have seen in the store this thing which breaks down waste...you put in a 8 drops per gallon like once a week. I also saw a clear bottle of water conditioner, what is the difference?

I have the dock and I like it. A lot of people on here have made their own turtle docks. Check out the photo gallery.
The waste degrader breaks down waste.
The conditioner neutralizes chemicals found in tap water and makes it safe for the turtle.

In my opinion, the dock is good...until your turtle is bigger than 4-5 inches in length. Even with the largest Zoo-Med turtle dock, it sinks when my 7 inch turtle climbs on it, and the other turtles, which are larger, have the dock completely submerged. But for hatchlings or small turtles, they make a fine basking dock for the time being (1-3 years).
And yeah, what mkoby said about the Waste Degrader and Conditioner. Some bottles do both, I forgot if the Zoo-Med ReptiSafe stuff does both, but it's a popular choice for treating water, and does more than just remove chlorine and chloramine.

I like the dock. My turtle's 6 1/2" and I got the largest zoo-med dock, then got another dock, cut the second dock into pieces and glued the pieces to the bottom of the first dock to give it more buoyancy. It works.
I don't think the Reptisafe is strictly speaking a waste degrader but does a lot of things besides remove chlorine, including remove ammonia, lower ph, and add electrolites.

I have a dock for my 4.25" turtle in the medium size and it works great. She got too big for the small one.
I also use the exo terra stuff and it works, but turtle clean gives it that extra kick every week. So I use Turtle Clean as well.
