AZOO 300 watt titanium water heater.

I recently bought four AZOO 300 watt titanium water heaters from Drs. Foster and Smith , for my new 240 gal. tank. They all worked grate for the first couple of weeks, but then one started shutting off as soon as it would click on. Which made this loud clicking noise all day long!! The other three can heat the tank by them selfs, but the forth one was just the overkill,(which I love!!!).

So, should I try and get another one? And if so, do I just buy a new one(with shipping it would be $40), or do I go though the hassle of returning it for a new one(with shipping it would be $25)? :?

Could I also wait until next winter to get a new one? :?:

Thanks for the suggestions,

Nathan Radle.

What's the warranty on it? How much trouble do you want to go through to get it replaced?

You said the 4th one was overkill, so it sounds like the 3 remaining ones would be able to do the job by themselves. It's really up to you as to what you want to do.

Lol, the warranty from AZOO is in Japanese, but Drs. Foster and Smith will replace them for up to 90 days(but you have to pay shipping.). I am really busy with school and work right now (lol I should be doing school right now) so I haven't had the time to fill out the return forum. They are rated for 80 gallons each, so 3 of them would heat 240 gallons, which is how much water I have in my tank right now. Do they rate them pretty well? Do you think I will be ok with just three?

Once again, thanks allot,

Nathan Radle.

I've only dealt with the AZOO brand with a thermometer (the smallest one I have) and turtle pellets, so I can't speak for how well the heaters are rated. If, as you said, you got the 4th one only because you like overkill, it sounds like it's not really needed. If you don't want to or can't pursue returning the one heater, I'd try using the 3 for a while. What's the water temp with the 3 of them in the tank? You could always get another later if for whatever reason you still think it's needed.

Ok, the temp is still stable at 78-79F. I think I will just wait it out, and see what happens. I am pretty sure I will buy another one once it starts to get cooler around here.

Thanks again,

Nathan Radle.

Oh, I wish you had posted here before you bought those heaters. :( From my personal experience and from what I've heard from others in the saltwater hobby, those heaters are extremely unreliable. They look really high tech and would be great if only they worked, especially the ones with the digital temperature controllers, the really expensive ones. But every single one that I've bought died, some within a couple of months and one that made it all of a whole year. There are some who have had ones that work longer, but their quality control really stinks.

Grate... I guess I will just replace them with stealths, as they die... :(

Are you sure they won't pay for shipping? They have great customer service, I'd give them a call and explain the situation. Also, If you ship the stuff via US Mail, it's much cheaper and faster in most cases.

OK, I might try to call them tomorrow if I can get my school done in time.

Easy day of school today, so I called them, and they told me that I had to pay for shipping to them, and they could send them back for free. So I think I want to send them all back, and just go with the stealths. What do ya think?

I think that would be your best bet as long as the shipping isn't too much. The Azoo and Won Brothers heaters are really poorly made. The so-called Titanium tubes on one of mine completely corroded at the top where the cap is. The Stealths are much better made and are cheaper too.

Yeah, wow it really corroded like that? I also saw both of my turtles biting the rubber end caps.

Get a padded envelope and send it through the post office. Should only be $3 or $4... good luck!

OH, good idea!!! I was gonna send them today, but I have to get my old set-up back up and running. It is ready to go,it is just that I used the whole bottle of Repti-safe on one water change of my 240 gallon tank!!!
