Anyone using an XP3 with a stock tank or plastic container resting on the floor? With the shortened tubing and lack of suction cups, have you had problems with the intake (blue pipe) repeatedly falling off?

ours sits about a foot off the floor.. our ASN always knock off the intake so we think. But it doesn't happen often what we did to try to help protect it we bough a piece of tubing from Lowes or something and put it over the intake connectors to act like a buffer from the turtles.

My intake fell off by itself, so I'm also wondering about some sort of support or just maybe a different filter.

on the actual filter, on top, the "male" in/output ports sort of swivel back and forth...you know what i mean?..dyou try adjusting the directions of those so the hose sort of rests against the tank?..i did that and with the combination of the hose pressed against the tank and the angle of the blue intake pipe(also suction cups) its stays in place..sorry, it would be a lot easier to show than to tell you through typing!..good luck

I put electrical tape on the intake pipe joint that's above the water line. I superglued the joint below the water line.

I never had a problem with the intake falling off when using the XP3 with a stock tank on the floor, and I shortened the hoses a lot (I'm not sure what that would have to do with knocking the intake off) and didn't use suction cups either. Over time, though, some of the pieces have cracked slightly, probably from pushing them on really tightly.

You could just cut a piece of the excess tubing (about 2 inches should do it), slit it and fit it over the joints to keep the intake screen on.
