Ok, so whats the difference fro ma "normal" Red Ear Slider & a Rio Grande Red Ear Slider ? I'm by no means ready to buy becaue I still dont have a tank but I found something interesting, to me anyway. The place I wana buy from doesnt get many "normal" sliders but does have / get some Rio Grande sliders, well my question is this aside from what I believe to be nicer colors on the Rio's whats the signifigant difference between the two ? I ask because as I said normal sliders might not be an option for me while the Rio Grande's would be.

So a Rio Grande should do just as well as a normal res in a 72x24x30 tank filled completely to the top, meaning theyre just as good swimmers etc.

They are basically Red Eared Sliders found only in the Rio Grande, their just different color schemes. I want one as my next turtle.

Yes, MBW, their care should be exactly the same. It's like the difference between an eastern and a western painted turtle. Basically, it's the same kind of turtle (requires the same care) but comes from a different area and has different coloration.

Where are you looking at getting your turtle from?

Thats who I'm going to be buying it from when I am ready to buy, he doesnt have any normals but has the Rio Grande's which is why I figured I'd ask my question since theyre as best as I can tell and from whats on Marc's site both sliders. Just wanted to see if anyone here had some insight is all ;-)

Edit: I like the Rio's better because they have much nicer colors etc as someone pointed out, so maybe in a way I'm lucky that MArc doesnt have any "normals" for sale.

That's the same reason why I want one.

Is MArc a good breeder, with good service?

He "Marc" comes highly recomended from Paul VanderSchouw (I talked to Paul) and if you know who he is then you know his word is god when it comes to this because he doesnt recomend just anyone. Also I plan on buying the Water Turtle Diet from turtlesource [not reputable] as well.

Ya but any decent online retailer is gonna charge what they need to so your turtle has a high chance of arriving alive. Me personally I dont mind their S&H, not if it means getting a healthy / live turtle.

Wow they have some cool looking turtles. I knew there were different varieties of sliders, but I never realized there were some that were so colorful. I love the hypo/pastel ybs and the belize slider. They are sooooo pretty. However, on the downside, they are selling the two headed babies :(
