Parts for the fx are expensive. I have 2 running and have never greased the o rings. Most hardware or big box stores carry o-rings that fit the fx for cheap.The only one I have not found is the large one in the lid.

Yep it's loud when it purges. But what a filter it is.

My turtles don't eat much during winter. Other than that they bask about the same.

Well I have 3 turtles so I probably clean my filters more often than most. I have ceramic rings in all 3 baskets. The middle basket is just full of rings.

I use carbon,purigen and ceramic rings in mine. I clean it every 2 weeks. I have had the fx line for years. They are great as compared to every other one I tried.

Every filter is loud to a point. How well do you sleep? Can you sleep with a humidifier running in the room? I'm just saying it's not silent! And when they purge they are real loud. I can hear mine purge upstairs and it's in the basement.

I bought most of my turtle supplies online. Ebay or Amazon are good starting points. You will find they are far less expensive than petco etc.

I used one of mine on a 40 gallon breeder tank. It was just fine. I also use 2 on my 300 gallon tank. It's a great filter.
