Re: Lighting for indoor habitat

Since some of the light is filtered, you'd want to make sure that the pellets he gets contain Vitamin D3. You can also change the topper material, though that will require a bit of creativity.

Re: Lighting for indoor habitat

I have dual chamber picture by zoo med that houses a fluorescent bulb and the heat lamp. Then I have a 24 inch LT5, 10.0 uvb lamp that runs over the tank where the zoo med fixture. Does not shine. Both sit on a wire mesh tank topper. I guess about 50% of the light is filtered out.

Re: Above Tank Basking Area

For a smaller tank, I think the Penn-Plax Reptology Turtle Topper would fit (if the tank is 13" wide). There are tons of ways to make one, but that mostly depends on a bit of skills and tools to make one.

Re: Tips for nursing a neglected turtle

... convinced her to eat red lettuce (though she only wants the fancy variety!) She also started basking, but I got a bit eager and made a egg crate topper, which she's not super excited about yet so I guess I'll give her some time. Here's a pic of her just chilling: https://imgur.com/a/iOJ4JH7

Re: Plants for turtle topper

They are toxic to some pets, not completely sure about turtles. If your turtles will have access to it, then you can assume that your turtle will try to eat and/or destroy it.

Plants for turtle topper

... with land plants and their RES. I was specifically looking at the inch plant or “wandering jew” plant. The roots would have access to the turtle’s water and I’ll be using fishing line to keep it in place. Should I be concerned about my turtle eating the roots? I mean are they toxic? Ive ...

Re: Filtration for 210g

Wow, I'm very jealous :P

You'd want to get the FX6 for this, or a pair of FX4s.You won't find any commercial topper for a tank that size, so you are looking at something custom here. The topper they sell could be hacked to accommodate a larger tank, but might be a bit cramped for your RES.

Re: penn plax turtle topper

I'd try covering the sides of the tank so he has more privacy. You can also position the basking light closer to the ramp to entice him further. If your lights/lamps are on a timer, I would have it set on earlier so he can try going there when it's much quieter around the house. Lastly, some people ...
