Steve, No i havent fixed the bow yet but i doubt it will every cause a problem.. When i fishinshed it i had it filled right to the top, that being 15" and it bowed a lot more.. I kept in like that in our garage for over a week and no leaking or breakin in the joints. I have it filled to about 8" now and it doesnt make near the bow when filled. If i was smart i would have glued a 1" strip along the whole top not just the ends like you can see in the pics...

If i were to make another i would probly use real glass or 3/8" or more..
The cost for all the plexiglass was 158 $ CANADIAN and that was cut by them to size. Plus lot of wood for the base at. ~ 100$ in cedar deck board and 2x4's.
Plus all the needed turtle equiptment ~ 350ish

RES owner.. What is your new tanks dimentions? Did the glass place cut it for u?

Toadzill and resowner....where did you find turts that small? I thought it was illegal to sell them. I really want a small one, but I can't find any, because I'm told under 4" is illegal to sell. If you could help me find one I'd be very greatful!! thanks

it is illeagle to sell them but no one really cares, and cops dont enforce it. i got mine from a local pet store. swatmeets and places like that are good places to look also.

How much did that cost you to build? Because I don't have $185 handy at the moment to go buy a turtle tank and making one sounds way more affordable, though I could be wrong.

Awesome tank. :D

read the previous posts.. The plexi cost about 150 $ CAN. so its not really a cheap way to go. I just did it for a project and so i could have a shorter tank.. Plus the cedar stand for it cost me a good buck in wood too...

The turtle size i got is just a hatchling and im not sure if its illegal at all in canada.. I bought mine at Big Al's so i doubt it is illegal.

Wow, looks great. I wish i was mecanically(sp?) inclined! If I could build a tank that big I would do it in a second. I have been searching for a huge tank for my four turts!

exactly.. I use the fat guy rule. if your floor can't support the weight of 3-4 really fat guys standing in the same spot.. you shouldn't be living there. let alone wanting a +30g tank!

if you have a heavy tank, at least be smart.. situate the tank right next to the wall, or even in the corner..
