I have to remember to turn off the lights when I take pictures so you can actually see what's over there.

I just turn down my exposure to -0.3 or -0.6. that takes care of a lot of the brightness problems. and turn off all the other lights in the room except for the ones on the aquaium. and don't use flash.

If I don't use flash everything is almost pitch black.
