Name/Type/Sex: Yoshi/Cumberland Slider/Female
Age/Shell Size: 8 yrs/8 inches
Tank Size: 40g Breeder
She is a trooper that deserves to be spoiled.
Bought as a hatchling in Chinatown
Raised with 2 others until they were juveniles...
But then...one day...while our house was going through some remodeling... and my wife put our tank and turtles outside.
The next day our turtles were gone!!!! And our neighbors said they saw a raccoon messing with a turtle shell in our side yard!!!
We eventually found 2 empty turtle shells
3 months later...our neighbor came to us saying they caught something running across their backyard.
Asking myself..."What does this have to do with me?"
She said she found our last turtle?! Are you kidding me?! She survived for 3 months in my neighbors backyard?! (To give credit to my neighbor...she had an awesome vegetable garden so our turtle had access to some food and water.)
I wish I could say I spoiled her every day after that...but after a couple of years...I got busy with life (I'm married with 2 kids) and the turtle was put on the back burner.
No excuses for RES Neglect.
I stumbled upon this site in Oct/Nov 2011...and ever since... Yoshi has been getting the treatment she deserves.
Noticeable Changes because of this site:
- The introduction of Kale (via Jello) to her diet has turned her Yellow.
- Outdoor basking and proper diet is causing rapid shedding.
- 02/26/2012 Her last bad scute has fallen! The last algae scute! The last hard water scute!
