That's a lot... have you seen them mating? I would also wonder if she has overactive ovaries.

She might. Trying to keep them apart as much as possible. Hopefully she'll be done soon and won't have to go through this again. And the only thing I have witnessed is his little dance, she is not fond of that, kicks him away every time he tries.

It really doesn't matter if she is receptive or not, in a confined area he will get the opportunity.

I expected as much. Wish I could go back in time and not have gotten him. She was probably better off alone...

I hated having to separate mine, especially since they did so well together at first.

Eggs have turned... 1 of the 3 from the 1st clutch collapsed and spoiled. The 3 from the 3rd have molded and spoiled... The other 4 from the 1st and 2nd clutch are okay looking, but I think the humidity has killed them... Moved them to new vermiculite and am going to give it a couple weeks and see what happens, but I think I may have accidentally suffocated them... Feeling terrible right now. :(

Sorry to hear it. It's possible they were not viable to begin with.

She is still holding them. She wonders around outside, but can't make up her mind about where she wants to lay them... I made her a back up nest in the 30 gallon I have, but she won't take to it either. We have become frustrated with each other.

Since I have been keeping track, 1st clutch was laid 2/24, the 2nd on 3/18, the 3rd on 4/2. The 1st is now 8 weeks/ 56 days old. I am positive the 1st is fertile due to the movement up until the 7th week. The 2nd has one with veins and shadowing on the inside and the other is clear. My assumption is that she ran out of his "stuff" during and after the 2nd clutch. So the three from the 3rd clutch were all duds.

As you can tell by my postings I am not a patient midwife... :(

From what I can tell, they like it during the same time during the day and even the same weather conditions. In my case, it was the day after a light rain storm. Perhaps she's waiting for similar conditions.

That was what I was thinking. It rained today, going to take her out tomorrow. She was digging this morning, but the ground was too hard and she gave up. It should be nice and soft by tomorrow.

The weather is against me... The rain didn't do much, the ground is still dry and cracked from the sunny days and warm heat we've been having. She hates her nest, left her in there all night. When I tried to put her back in the water this morning she had a fit... I know she wants to go outside, but the ground it too dry... Going to try to leave her in the nest all day. She hates me, but I don't know what else to do...

Why not just use a garden hose to soften up a part of your yard? Start her off in that area and see what she does. If you need to, just keep spraying different areas until she finds a spot she likes.

Not my yard, apartment court yard and we (Austin, TX) have water restrictions during droughts so they haven't had the sprinklers on. The grass is all dead too... Wish I could go out there and water it, but it's not my property... I let her have a break to swim and eat, she had 5 feeder fish and tried to climb out when I left her alone. She is back in her nest. She laid in a nest her first time, but that was after 2 weeks of this back and forth stuff. I am hoping she will become desperate enough to lay in a nest again... or that a tropical storm will make it's way toward us...

Wooooh!!! She laid her eggs. I was able to use my aunt's back yard. Took her a couple of hours of digging, but she got it done. So proud of my girl. She's back home in her tank now, chowing down. Piggy~ :p I feel much better, so I'm sure she feels a heck of a lot better. Going to leave the nest for tomorrow. Too dark to get them out tonight. My aunt is our savior. We are going to sleep well tonight! Ahhhh! ;)
