i saw the funniest thing ever last night.

filbert was itching his butt. i think. i have one of those floating docks, but i have it turned upside-down. so the crossbar is at the top of the dock, rather than at the bottom (under water). i heard the styrofoam-y noise that the dock makes when filbert tries to climb up the wrong side, then splashing noises. i peeked over at him, and he was pushed up on all four legs, rubbing the back of his shell on the crossbar of the dock!

do turtles get itchy shells?

They especially do when they've got scutes to shed. My RES is shedding scutes, and if I lightly lay my hand on his carapace, he begins to move back and forth like he''s doing the rhumba. :D

I couldn't help not commenting on this. Not the itchy turtle part, but if i read correctly, you have the turtle dock flipped upside down?
Why would you flip the whole dock upside down, when all you have to do is take the top suction cups off, flip the bracket, and put the suction cups back on?

He didn't flip the dock over just the bar.

yeah, i took the dock part off, flipped the bar and put the dock back on. the dock itself isn't floating upside-down.
