Hi everyone! I was wondering if it is possible to breed two different species of turtles together? I have heard of a Mississippi Map and Red Ear Slider hybrid, but that's about it. Could a Northern Map breed with a Red Ear Slider? Or can whole different turtles breed together? For example, let's say, an Alligator Snapping Turtle with a Blandings Turtle? Or a Leatherback Sea Turtle with a Alligator Snapping Turtle?

If you own, seen or even heard of anything about hybrid turtles, I'd love to hear it!

A hybrid is the offspring of 2 different species but there is no guarantee of any viable offspring or fertile offspring. Maps and RES are possible, but snappers and sea turtles are entirely different.

Going by Scientific Classification pretty much hybrids thatt i know of only occur within the subfamily they are in. Then turtles in the same genus you see lots of intergrades occuring naturally in the wild. I dont know of any hybrids that occur outside of subfamily because they genetics are way to different.

Here is a gallary of some of known hybrids: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_ ... dex-5.html though ive seen more then whats listed there.
