I adopted a turtle from Little RES Q in Ontario (his name is Dougie).
All I know about him is that he is a 4.5 inch male (he seems to have the body of an at least 6 inch male) RES that was found as a stray (they aren't native here) and surrendered to Little RES Q by Animal Control. He has some pyramiding, and an injury on his head that has been healing well so far. Since receiving him, he has regained some of his lost colour, and has adapted well to my aquarium. He spends most of his time basking, but comes down to beg or get food. He is a pretty weak swimmer, and his jaw seems a lot weaker than normal.
Since I have no idea how he lived before being found as a stray by animal control, I have no idea how old he is, and I'm not sure whether or not his size is a good indicator (since his diet obviously wasn't ideal, he has pyramiding, and his body is big relative to his shell).
Do any of you have any ideas on how old my new turtle might be?
