Other Turtle Discussion :: Please help identify turtles!

We found these two tiny turtles near a repair shop covered in dirt and possibly oil or grease. We immediately brushed them off with bottled water and a soft bristled toothbrush and purchased a 40 gallon aquarium for them with a heat lamp, uva and uvb lamps, water heater and water filtration. They love basking on the turtle dock together and are very wary of movement or noise in the room. They will head for the water at the first hint of something coming their way. I had a red eared slider for about 3.5 years and I gave it to my aunt who still has it to this day but I can't tell what these turtles are. I believe they may be northern map turtles or possibly a different type of slider. They could even be a crossbreed for all I know but it would be great to know for sure. I took the best photos I could without having to disturb them or handle them, I hope they are clear enough to help identify the species!

Hard to tell from the picture but probably either a map turtle or false map turtle.

Got a few more pictures of one of them. This is squirt, he is very cautious. We named the other Roshi, he is a bit more active and adventurous.

They have a yellow spot where the red patch is located on a RES and a bit of a pronounced stripe on top of their head/neck.

I don't think that's a map turtle. Where are you from and what kind of aquatic turtles are in your state/area?

Im not really sure to be honest. First by the rear edge of the shell I was thinking map also but the green and yellow stripes made me think otherwise. If its a map I'm not sure what kind.Its not a Mississippi map. Here is a list of turtles in your state...

I think I am leaning toward Northern Map turtle. A google image search result shows some very similar young turtles. Granted, the older turtles that I see in the search results don't look much like mine. The main difference I am seeing in the hatchling pictures online is the belly design. The picture I attached with this post shows both turtles with almost all yellow bellies other than the black lines. They may be a cross breed between yellow bellied sliders and a northern map. I wish somebody would see this post and definitively know what they are haha. But nonetheless they are a lot of fun to have swimming around and basking on top of each other.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that I've seen a chinese striped-neck turtle looking like that. It's got a long tail, so that's how I guessed.
