Other Turtle Discussion :: Does one of these Adult Turtles look like a hypo red ear?

I seen this photo of these two adult red ear sliders offered and it hurt me seeing that the owner of these red ears has them in a 30 gallon tank and they have no room to move. I know the one is a normal which would be illegal for me to keep in Florida but the other one looks to be a hypo in which if that is the case, it would be legal to keep. Due to these having a non healthy environment, I was thinking about getting them and donating the one normal to the wildlife educational center here for one of their display enclosures and possibly keeping the one if it is a hypo. Please let me know if you all feel that it is a hypo.

Hard to say, you might be right. A good look at the shell and skin patterns should help greatly.

They both are being offered free to me at the moment. If indeed it is a hypo and I get it, I would possibly breed it this after getting it cleared medically by a exotic vet. I may just pick them both up and get better photos to determine. If they are both normal, they will be given to the wildlife center here to put on display as they do with all donated snakes, turtles and alligators . I hope it is hypo honestly and both turtles in this tiny tank look very unique with one showing signs of being hypo and the other have such a wonderful pattern to it. Since I do not have facebook steve, would you mind posting it on the facebook page related to these forums and see what others say about it to let me know

Never such a thing as a free turtle Then again, I think it might not be one since hypos are not cheap and I would wonder how this fell into the current owners hands.

I can post it, but I think most of the people on the page are casual users like here. Do you have a link to a bigger picture and how would you like me to phrase the question?

I will get photos this coming Monday. I showed the photo to the turtle breeder 40 minutes from here and he said yes it is a hypo. He breeds both low end and high end turtles turtles. But I am getting other opinions as well. The normal adult, I will be giving away to a good home of course. Someone with a florida permit and or I will be willing to ship it. I know I can't advertise here even with a free turtle and I won't break your rules as I enjoy helping on the forums while learning from you and I truly like being apart of these forums as a active member. I may donate it possibly if not the wildlife center, I can also donate it to the local turtle and tortoise club here for display purposes I was told. I will be getting both these tuirtles and a waterland tub this Sunday night.

These turtles were reported to of been given by the ladys nephew who went off to college and could not take them. Unfortunately she was only able to come up with a thirty gallon tank and realized that they need a lot of space.

I am getting these two turtles sometime today. I had a long road trip planned out doing a variety of things during my day off. I am researching a bit more on this turtle in question from the ladys nephew and I have learned that it was purchased from the National Breeders Expo in Daytona Beach Florida and her nephew was very heavily into turtles and a few morphs including Albinos himself at one point. I recall many years back, If I wanted to, I was able to get albinos between 75 dollars to 150 dollars and even albino snapping turtles were going for 700 dollars back then. Who known that the prices would grow to these unbelievable prices.

Based on the age of this turtle and size would of placed it in the time frame where all these turtles were very affordable. Now I do think it is a morph and I will get some very nice close photos of it here soon. I have been doing some intense research and may have found it to be another morph based on the pattern and if that is the case and only if that is the case, this turtle is not going anywhere at all after I get it. I am picking up its waterland tub today as well from a friend.

Now regarding the other red ear slider coming with it, it appears to be normal and if it was a captive born from the same show, it could be het for something but I have no clue with no documentation. To be legal, I am giving it to a friend of mine that said he would be happy to keep it since it looks normal and I do not want to be caught with it since I do not have a permit for it. So if he breeds it and it comes out with something unique, he also benefited from it. I just can't keep it legally is all and do not want to risk being caught yet I want to see it going to a good loving home.
