Turtle has arrived..... :D

A few hours before I head out to Michael's to get him set up in his new home, he seems fairly content at the moment so I'm not going to bug him for pictures just yet. But later tonight there will be updates! I did measure him, scl is exactly 3.5 inches.

Name suggestions? We really need ideas for names that could be for a guy or a girl since we can't tell yet!

Katie, you are one of the champion turtle-namers around here!

But since you asked....Pompeii, Vesuvius, Caesar (or Caesarina), Alex (Alexander or Alexanderia), Atlas, Joe or Jo

Still no name, frankly we've barely seen the little guy! We put him in his new home and he immediately buried himself and went to sleep. Hopefully I'll get some pics when he emerges!

Mine did the same and I thought about naming him Hyde (I love That 70s Show)

Haha! I eventually pulled him out just to make sure he was still breathing! I gave him a good soak, figuring he was probably dehydrated after his long ride, but as soon as he got out onto the dirt he buried himself and slept through the night.

I'm considering Apollo as a name, even though it's pretty much a boy name. When his shell got wet his colors really came out and he has these amazing sunbursts all over his carapace. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them loaded!

Hmm, no wonder I've never seen an Eastern Box Turtle through all of my many jaunts through the woods. They're always underground. :?

Yeah, I guess so! This morning he half buried himself with just part of his shell and his head poking out. Michael called and said that he's doing the same thing now, I guess he just likes to be covered a bit!

Wow! What a cool looking turtle!! Congrads!

My baby 3 toeds buried themselves ALLL the time, till I gave them a fake rock to go in. Now I always know where to find them. My adult ornate does the half-buried thing alot and pokes her head out to see what's going on. Very cute!! Shes already getting to know me and comes to me in the morning expecting a tasty morcel.
