Hello. I have been reading a lot here over the past few days and decided I would introduce myself. I just got 3 baby RES about a week ago, all though they don't have red ears :( and I have them in a 20gal long tank right now. I do have a 90gal tank I plan on setting up and putting them into sometime this summer. Looking forward to being a member here :D . Here are a few picture of my setup and 2 of my little guys, One seems to jump in the water as soon as I walk into the room and will not bask while im in the room so I call him Chicken, and my 4yr old calls the others spongebob and patrick

Welcome!!!

The two little ones in the picture look like Yellow Belly Sliders.
Have no fear - we can help ya here! (no. I was not trying to be a poet)
Their care is quite similar - they are both pond sliders

Welcome! My turtle Bill is a bit like Chicken. If we make eye contact while he's basking, he jumps off. Glad to have you aboard. :)

I made a canopy type thing to raise the UVB light up and it also blocks the light from the heat lamp

Ah! wait until the day when they stare you down, and then just fall asleep on you...
kind of crazy, but that is trust.
You will be amazed at how good it feels when the trust shows.
So, just let them be skittish - be calm and quiet when you approach, and talk softly the whole time so they know you are approaching..
Pretty soon, they will process that you are not a threat and will be less skittish.

I was wondering the same thing, but couldn't articulate it. Thanks devilduck for asking ,and thanks Scissors for clarifying.
I think it looks quite appealing.
