I love reading all there is to learn about owning and caring for turtles. I have 4 RES. 3 from that Chinatown store in LA that I have to pass by now when visiting there for fear of buying another set of baby turtles. My other turtle was given to me by a neighbor who did not want it any more. I have a large outdoor pond fully epuiped and racoon proofed. My turtles got to go out in it for the first time this past summer. I have brought them back in for the winter because they are all under 3 years. Hopefully next year my oldest turtle Snappy will get to stay year round in the pond. Snappy is in a 40 gallon tank and Snippy and Thai are in a 30 gallon tank. My last turt is named Hockey Puck and she is not growing as fast as Snippy so she has her own 10 gallon tank for now. I caught the other turts nipping at her so it is true, you do have to watch them if all in the same tank because the bigger ones do pick on the young ones and sometimes it is at night when no one is around!!!!.
Greetings!! Sounds like a really cool setup for the turts. I can't wait to see pictures of your pond! We just had one built for us this fall and Spot hasn't gotten to try it out yet. We're looking for ideas on plant life etc.
