Hello everyone! My name is Rick. You've probably seen me around on the forum, or even answered some of my question(I really appreciate that by the way!). I currently do not own a RES, but I will as soon as I get my tax refund. I've been getting super excited to actually get a RES and know how to take care of it properly. You see, when I was in elementary school, my sister and I, each had a RES. But they both died, due to malnutrition, inadequate environment, such as, cold water temp, and no basking lamp or UVB light. I didn't know I needed all that when I was younger. The pet store employee told me I had everything I needed, but obviously I didn't. So after years of not owning a turtle, I'm deciding to get another and do it right this time. I'm super excited and I can't wait to show him/her off to everyone!!!!

Welcome to the forum! I will tell you already, that if you have a question, SOMEBODY on the forum will have an answer. Even if it is as odd as "Does my turtle look fat?" Hehe. :) You might be surprised that that's actually a very important question!!

Yeah, and be sure to get a herp vet to give him/her a checkup! It will save you worries in the long run and you will get the proper treatments to any illness your turtle may have. I was one of the mannyyy who didn't read about RES before buying one, and I wish I was as smart as you because I would've saved a LOT by buying the correct equipment the first time around, recommended by the experts here rather then the not-so-expert PetsMart employees. :(

Oh...this is my second time around too! I had a turtle about 10 years ago, that I had terrible information on how to take care of him from the pet store. This forum is DEFINITELY the way to go when getting a RES!!!!
