Hi. Welcome to the site :-)

Give him some time to adjust to his new surroundings. To find out why he's not eating, you'll have to tell us about your setup. How big is the tank? Do you have a uva & uvb light, water heater and filter? There are several reasons that turtles stop eating so with this info, we'll help you figure out what it is.

Another thing, I don't know how old your nephew is, but I suggest not letting anyone 'play' with the turtle. Kids are not exactly careful when it comes to things like that. Also, turtles are more 'look but don't touch' pets. I won't let my stepchildren (15 & 9 years old) or my niece and nephew (2 & 12) touch them. It causes undo stress and certainly won't help if the turt is already sick or not eating.

If your water can be kept at around 75 degrees then a heater isn't needed. If your water temperature is warmer than this you can cool it down by adding cool water or frozen bottles of water. You won't be able to tell if Pagong is a girl or boy until "he" is about 4-5 inches long. The sooner you can get him a good place to swim the better. And the best is 10inches of tank per inch of shell. If you can't get a real aquarium look for something like a large plastic storage container that will do until you can get an aquarium. :D

That'd be 10 gallons of tank per inch of turtle :-) I know that's what you meant tho.

A belated welcome. :) If your turtles can get outside to bask in the sun, that would really be good for them. With the heat your country, though, make sure they have a shaded area. And don't put them in anything glass--it will heat the water too much.

About the second turtle--will the eyes open all? Will the turtle eat? It sounds like from the soft shell the turtle has been given to much animal matter and also not enough calcium and possibly Vit. D3, which the turtle could get from basking in direct sun (not through a window, which would filter out the UVB rays which the turtle synthesizes the Vit D3 from). What are the turtles being fed?

Can you soften some pellets/sticks and mix a little something smelly with it (like bits of sardines in water or shrimp). If the turtle's eyes are closed and he can't see to eat, can you hold a little under his nose to see if he'll grab it (he should be in the water so he can swallow it)?
