1 RES named Rigby. She's a 6 inch, 8 year old female, that until somewhat recently we all thought was a male, thus the name. It fits her too much to change it though, so I always add an explination whenever I introduce her to people.

We've had our 2 RES for almost 3 weeks and finally decided on Flip and Scooter. Their shells are about 2.5-3 inches long, so how old would that make them be?

Welcome to the forum Julie.

It's hard to tell a turtle's age by their size since so many factors influence their growth. Most likely they are between 6 to 9 months of age but it's possible they are even older than that if their previous conditions weren't set up right.

My son named his 4in RES Speedy because he would race across the yard when we first got him. Now, a year later, he is 7.5in and as fast as ever...

Speedy in his old 29g tank, right before bath time
(I put him in the bath tub when I changed the water
so he wouldn't torment the fish too much).
