untsmurf... I got a RES. I talked to you yesterday about my new turtle Turbo not basking and you told me my tank was to small ( 10 gal for 4 in. turtle) so i was not able to get a 55 galon but i was able to get a forty gallon. I know it is not ideal but it is much better and bigger. Anyways my turtles name is Turbo and he is a RES. He is about 4 inches long. This is my first turtle ever and i am learning alot from you helpful people. My name is Steven and I have no pics yet. Waiting on new tank to get ready to take some pics.

I hope so, I will find out tomorrow when the tank is ready. I got everthing you said to but a huge tank...close enough I hope. I got the pump, water heater, 100watt uva-uvb basking lamp floating dock and about 4 medium sized plants. I hope he will start basking. Other than that he has been very active and has been eating in his old tank or should i say turtle tub.

Did you get one of those 40 gallon "breeder" tanks (the nice and wide kind)? Those are excellent for turtles while they are still relatively young (4") and are much better than a 55 gallon IMO because they offer more width as well as length which gives the turtle more area to swim. Sounds like you are well on your way to a very nice turtle setup! Untsmurf definitely knows her stuff so following her advice is always a good idea! ;)
