Hi! I knew I was going to get a turtle about six weeks ago, so right away i read every single guide this site had. I got Speedy two weeks ago and he has settled in perfectly!

He is double-adopted:
Speedy was in an animal shelter, where a friend-of-a-friend adopted him.
His tank broke at the same time I started researching RES, and when I heard that there was a turtle in need of a home I jumped at the opportunity.

I know Speedy is a pretty common turtle name, but that's the name he came with. I was going to name him Speedy anyways, because he is SO FAST! Sometimes we go outside to play, (only when it's really warm because we're in Toronto) and he zooms around faster than some of my nieces and nephews!

Speedy is my first pet since I was eight. I had fish then. I'm 17 now and considerably better at taking care of my animals. It does help that now I can read easily... He has his lamp, basking area, lots of free swimming area, and a ball he really likes. He likes pushing it around in the water, which makes me glad because he's really active and not quite as bored knowing that he lives in a tank. Speedy is not shy at all, and he eats all his vegetables, which is better than I can say, really.

So, needless to say, I'm really excited to join the forum!

Thank you! We, (my Bunny and I) feel so welcome! Unfortunately Speedy is unable to reply himself, as he is unable to type. Bunny can type because she's polyester and I'm pretty good at manipulating her paws.

Speedy is a good name even if it is common. :) I take my turtle outside too but I live in the desert so we have a lot of warm days as you can imagine. Can't wait to see pics of speedy.
