hi all! my name is jenny and i'm new on this forum, though i've already posted a few messages here. i found this site thru google search engine and i think it's very informative, organized, and helpful.

anyway, i found my turtle about 2 years ago, on the steps of a restaurant in chinatown. i noticed it b/c of its vibrant green shell. i learned that next to the restaurant, there was a store which sold turtles and apparently, it must have escaped. from then, i brought it home.

i'm still not really sure if my turtle is a girl or a boy, though i've referred to it as "he." recently, my turtle seems to have female features, so i think it's a girl now...btw, my turtle's name is "ninja." it's probably mutant, that's why it's either a girl or boy, haha! j/k

i'm not sure if i'm taking care of him properly, even though he's been living for some time. he eats and sleeps well; he's very energetic. anyhow, i'm glad that i bumped into this website. everyone's suggestions, answers, and stories are fascinating. i'm also wow'ed and inspired by the pictures! i'm currently building a better tank for my turtle and i hope to have him or her for a long long time.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures as well. Since you have been doing a lot of reading, you probably know that you won't be able to tell the gender of your turt until she/he is 4 inches long without the curve...not including the head or tail. How long is your turt now?

this is my website: www.jennyhho.com

and this is a direct link to a picture of my RES: http://www.jennyhho.com/ninja_in_thaila ... iland.html

the colors of ninja are a bit off b/c i used photoshop and merged him onto a picture i took in thailand. if you move and hold the cursor over the "turtle" layer, you'll see a truer color of him. i took this picture about 1-1/2 years ago. ninja looks a bit bigger now.

now that i think about it, ninja was about 2 inches big when i found him. he's about 4 inches in length now.

haha! ninja would've loved that environment! or i could say, ninja visited thailand! photoshop is just simply amazing! (when i brought him home, he lived in a shoe-box-sized plastic container. as he grew bigger, i switched him to a 2-shox-box-sized container.)

btw, ninja is adapting to the tank. he's much calmer now. i think he likes it. and yes, i feed him in a separate container and i think he's getting it.
