Hi, Im 16 years old and attending my high school, I got a new RES from a pet store, its still a baby tho! The turtle itself costed 20 dollars but the set-up fee is where it got me . Anyways I'll be getting a bigger tank, I had no idea that it was 10 inches per a gallon and the store clerks said that a 5 gallon tank was just fine for my turtle. Anyways hes named ShyGuy after the people from super mario. I named him that because he always runs away when i walk over but immediate gets back onto his basking area when i leave!

Yea, I agree, hes really really round, i bet if i traced him he would make a perfect circle =D. Hes scared of me tho, anyone know how to get your turtle more familiar to you? I tried handfeeding it but it wont eat, it just pokes it's head out of the water and then dive back in

Welcome. Give him time, it takes time for your turtle to realize you are the hand that feeds him. Many come to recognize the pellet can and come swimming up for him. It took Zeke about 2 weeks to realize that I was a good thing...he still gets spooked now and then but he is also older (6 years)
