Just wanted to day hi and I wish I would have found you sooner! Two years ago our daughters friend was leaving for college and pretty much dropped a tank with 2 very small RES off on our doorstep. To make a long story short guess who ended up with the little guys? I'm an animal lover so it's not like they had to twist my arm but I can honestly say I have been only muddling along. I have learned a lot along the way but have never been able to find a local expert. The new lesson I learned today is, by the brand new eggs in the tank I don't have two males like I thought!!

Greetings! Eggs in the tank - what a surprise! If you haven't seen it already, here's a link with some info on the subject:

And here's a link on the differences between the boys and the girls:

Welcome, females don't need males to lay eggs. If your female(s) have more eggs to lay, you might want to look at making a nesting area for them. Check out the links SpotsMama posted (and the links in those links).

Where are you located? You can always posts pics of your turtles (tails and front claws) if you need help to determine the sex.

I've been busy reading everything on the site today. The picture are great and yes I do have a male and a female! We now have 4 eggs and I'm working on the nesting now.
I should probably post this in another thread but how many eggs should I expect? Is up to 30 correct?
