I belive its an ear abcess. You'll have to take him to the vet to get it lanced and drained. The vet may also prescribe something to help him stay rid of the infection. Good Luck!

It's an abcess. Just yesterday another one was reported. here's the link and photo:

Like Ty13 said, you have to get him to a vet to have it lanced and treated. It isn't an uncommon problem but it does require vet care.

I think it's a bacterial infection, probably but not always related to poor water quality.
