I'm really sorry to hear your turtle died, but I have to ask---what caused the shell to break in half, and if the shell was injured, why was the turtle allowed to be on the ground outside???

i didnt find out till i got home i guess. since i was out i didnt know that i left the hatch open on my turtle tank and it fell off my windowsill from my 16th floor apartment. i brought it to a vet as soon as i got home around 4pm. when i brought it to the vet they said there was too much damage on the shell to repair which left me in a tough situation on what to do. the backbone part of the shell broke across the shell leading to the scute underneath. after a few hours, its eyes wore closed and it just layed motionless right there in the cardboard box i left it in.

I really feel for you. I'd get a turtle in a little while. I'd just get time to regroup. It was LITTLE chance it would live.

I'm so sorry! It always hurts when a pet you've had for a while dies. They're a member of the family.

I know how it feels. I had a dog Pi who died two years ago. If been with her my whole life. I was sad. Once I dropped my brothers turtle. It was lucky its fall was softened

I'm sorry for your loss. Just remember the happy times. I know it hurts, I've lost a number of pets, and each one imprints a little bit on your heart. Consider adopting a turtle, rather than buying a new one, give a little lost sole a place in your heart instead. It's unfortunate, but most of the deaths I've seen on here are accidents. It's like trying to baby-proof your house, there's always something little you forget.

I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully you can concentrate on your hatchling now and give him the best home possible.

Blackforce I'm so sorry about your turtle!I'm sure the time she had with you was very happy and comfortable. That's all any of us can offer them. I'm sure it would serve her memory well to save another turtle. I know alot of rescue groups use
http://petfinder.com/
to find homes for all kinds of pets, including turtles. I hope thats helpful.
