The only thing you can do is bump the water temperature up to 80 until you can get him to a vet. A respiratory infection will not go away without treatment. Rather, it will get worse. Good luck and get him to a vet right away

No, there is nothing you can do at home to cure a respiratory infection, you need to get him to a herp vet as soon as possible. If there's foaming and gasping it's probably pretty advanced, and getting him treated soon will maximize his chances of recovery.

Van-sa -- They can survive RI without vet care but it is rare. Keep the water at 80 to 81 and a good heat lamp for basking and hope. Basking area should be about 90 to 91 degrees. Keep water as clean as you can. Good Luck :!:

Your turtle needs to be kept warm (water temp 82F, basking area as noted above).

You're right, this is urgent---find a herp vet to treat him, the sooner the better.

If he's eaten as recently as three days ago, then not eating isn't his big problem right now. He can survive several days without eating - his big problem is the illness itself. Until you get to the vet you can try to entice him to eat by offering things he usually only gets for treats like tuna or shrimp or boiled chicken.

Do a search of the forums here, esp. under the Urgent Care threads. Unfortunately if your turtle does have an RI, you need to get to a vet as soon as possible. Otherwise, you are taking a gamble with your turtle's life, I'm guessing the natural survival rate without a vet (based on my experience here) is less than 25%.
