Yes, RI's are contagious, so if you have a turtle that's showing symptoms of having one, it's best to separate the sick one and give him a set-up with temps that are warmer than normal (water about 82F, basking area 91-92F)---the added warmth will boost his immune system to fight the infection. Most often a herp vet is needed to prescribe antibiotics to kill off the infection.
If your other turtle is showing symptoms of an RI, keep him warm find a herp vet to take him to.
RIs are often caused by prolonged exposure to temps that are too cool (including cool breezes). A turtle that's not healthy will have a weakened immune system that will make him more susceptible to contracting an RI easily.
