my friend told me that her mom found a puddle of blood underneath their RES on the basking dock. she told me that she's been checking it ever since but it hasnt reocurred and there doesnt seem to be anything else wrong with it. they have another RES but they dont think that it's the source. i told her i would try to find out what it was. does anyone have any ideas?

Well, if there are two animals and blood, I'm going to say a really good possibility is that there is fighting going on. Your friend should check the turtles' shells and bodies for bites and watch their behavior- especially around feeding time. They may need to be separated.
Any bite that would result in a pool of blood is serious and steps need to be taken to prevent further injuries.

I agree that they should probably be separated. Is the turtle in question a male? If so he could have been fanning and the other turtle could have bitten or otherwise injured his penis. That would explain why there's no apparent injury.
