that other ones look like they are coming off but not red. like the tips are starting to come up but barely.

the herp vet contacted me and said to keep her out of water during the day for 6-8 hours a day with uvb and a little heat lamp.
get betadine or iodine and rub that on the infected area once a day. but shes not a specialist the closest specialist is in washington.
she said that this will help, but she also said that something in the water might be making it worse. so idk..

If you're going to use iodine/betadine, I'd dilute it, put it only on the areas that are affected (don't bathe her in it), rinse the areas well and let them dry. I'd use q-tips to apply the solution.

You also could clean the areas with chlorohexidine (which you can get as Hibiclens at places like Walgreens); dilute it 50/50 with water and wash the affected areas, rinse, and let the shell dry.

Is the vet going to actually see your turtle? With those red areas, it would be better to have the turtle looked at. A stronger medication might be needed to treat those areas.

How often is the tank cleaned and water changed? Assuming this is shell rot, insufficient husbandry and lack of basking are often the main cause.

ill do that.

no shes not she said do this for a week or so and record if any improvement.
if not ill have to take her 2 hours from here to WSU.
um ive only had her a little while like 2 months and i finely get her a 55g and a brand new filter but im gunna do full tank clean in the next 2 days but once i get a schedule going i'd clean it about 1 every 2 weeks or more depends on how dirty it gets.
i think this happened because i didnt have a uvb for a long while (well a long while considering ive only had her 2 months lol) but i put her outside when i didnt have it but shes dry docked right now in a tub with a towel with uvb on her and heat lamp fairly far so its not that hot.

I would probably get her seen by a vet sooner than later since she might need antibiotic treatment.

You know, the rest of the carapace looks surprisingly good. It's almost as if those red and white areas are injuries that got infected. Keep the shell clean and have a vet look at those areas.

This is from the OP, mistakenly set as "report":

thats what my local pet store said she said that she might have banged it against the side (which she does when she gets REALLY scared. but she hardly does it. but i think thats whats it but i finely got a heater so maybe now since it is hotter she will not get so sick.

"OP" means original poster. Instead of reply or quick reply, you clicked report and typed your post into that. Report is used to flag posts and leave a message to moderators so they can review it.
