Hi All,

Seek advice on my 2 recently bought RES. 1 by the name of XH, is sick, brought him to the vet, refusal to eat, and even food with medicine prep also refuse to eat, the other one by the name of XB, has also been refusal to eat since gotten them, but more lively. Kindly advice.

How big is your turtle? 1 1/2" for both
How long have you had it? 10 days since 20 Aug 2012

What is the water temperature? About 28 degrees for main tank for XB, 32 degrees for isolated RES for XH, water is either distilled water / overnight tap water.
Did you use a thermometer? Yes for XH, no for XB. but swap the thermometer around both tank to check temp
Are you using a water heater? Yes, mainly for isolated RES XH
How much water is in there? Isolation Container 1L for XH, Main Tank 1L for XB
Are you using a water conditioner? Yes, Nutrafin Aqua Plus, and Hobo VA60
Are you using any filtration? No

What is the basking temperature? About 32 Degrees
Is there a basking light? Yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? Yes, A big Rock
What kind is it or what is it made out of? Repti Glo 2.0

Is there a UVB light? Yes

What have you been trying to feed it? Pellets, dried shrimps and vegetables, Attempted to drip Baxter Appetizer to both, only managed to dripped into XH, XB refuse to open his mouth
When was the last time your turtle ate? Not sure, never eat since I gotten them

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? 11" by 7" by 6 1/2"
Is the tank near a window? Yes
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? No, In my room to prevent stress on them as there are young kids in my house

Have you read the Basic Care section? Yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? Yes

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? Yes
1. Constantly Sleeping & Basking on Rock for both
2. Moth opening which looks like coughing for XH
3. Eyes looks puffy which tried Eye Ointment prescribed by Vet. Attempted Baxter Eye Drop bought from
4. Bottom Belly felt Soft for both, Added Nutrafin Basix Turtle Conditioner
5. The healtier RES XB somehow ate guppy food when I brought them back to the pet shop, but both refusal to eat turtle pellets, dried shrimps, or vegetables

32C is very warm for your turtle, I would get him to 28C. I would also not keep a small aquarium near the window. I'd try some live prey... minnows or guppies. Hold the fish by the tail if necessary and let it wiggle in front of their faces.
