How long have you had it? About 2 weeks

How much water is in there? Around 45 gallons
Are you using a water conditioner? Sometimes
Are you using any filtration? Yes

Is there a basking light? Yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? Yes
What kind is it or what is it made out of? Coated Styrofoam I believe
Is there a UVB light? Yes

What have you been trying to feed it? Both of them Eat about 6-7 pellets per day, always have fresh green lettuce available, and sometimes receive freeze dried shrimp as treats

Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? My bedroom, normal activity

Have you read the Basic Care section? Yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? Yes

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? No

Both of these guys were given to an 8 year old girl by a neighbor. They were living in a shallow tubberware with no basking spot for a month or two before I was given them to take care of. They now happily joined my 55 gallon tank where my 12 inch plecostomus and 2 bigger fish live. The fish leave the turtles alone and the turtles show know interest in the fish yet, but I plan to rehome the fish one the turtles get larger. They are very active and healthy, but I believe they may have some shell rot from the stress of their previous living. I cant tell if its scratches, shedding or actually shell rot so I came here for a second opinon. Ive included pictures of both turtles and their living. If you could just look them over and tell me what you think that would be great. Also, am I feeding them too much? I have heard of shell pyramiding from over feeding. I included a picture of a side view of their shells because they do look a little raised. Is this due to too much food? Any advice is welcome :)

Sorry if pictures are bad, let me know I need to provide more.

I can't see any shell rot from the pictures, are there any soft spots on the shell? It just basically looks like overfeeding at this point, so I would definitely review what you are feeding them and how much. Also, remove the gravel and keep it bare or use sand.

Awesome. There are no soft spots either. How much am I overfeeding? They get 6-7 small pellets each per day then also have acceses to fresh green lettuce 24/7.

Also, I plan to be getting sand within next week or so.

What about treats? Any chance people are feeding them extra?
