I'm concerned about my baby turtle. He's about three+ months old, very active and is eating well. I've had him for about a month. A few days ago, I noticed that the cracks in the top of his shell are lighter, almost a little opaque. Yesterday I noticed that he has a little bit of skin shedding (or it least it looks like that). Anyone know what's wrong? Thanks very much for your responses, I appreciate it.

It just sounds like normal shedding to me... :)

If the shell looks metalic or translucent and the skin looks like wisps of cotton when under water, it's probably shedding, like Carol said.

If by cracks you mean the line (which is the seam) in between the individual scutes (plates) on the carapace (top shell) is turning a lighter color, it sounds like your turtle is growing. Does the line look like it's widening at all? Is it really visible in the water? If so, your turtle is growing. Normal skin shedding is part of growing as well.

If you're really concerned, you could post a pic...
