everytime i drop my turtle in the feeding tank to eat, i use a seperate tank, he floats to the top of the water like a boat and just floats, doesnt swim, doesnt sink, just floats around without moving much unless I start tapping him on his shell. What could this be a symptom of?

How big is your feeding tank and how much water do you have in it?

Does he have his arms & legs spread out when he floats? Sometimes turts just like to hang out, especially the little ones. They tend to float a lot, usually just because they are content. Arms & legs spread out is a sign that they are content & don't feel threatened (that's a good thing).

Does he float perfectly even (aka one side, Left or Right side, of the shell is not higher than the other). If either left or right side of the shell is *always* higher than the other, then that means he has a collapsed lung & it is a late stage of turtle pneumonia.

sometimes he floats with everything spred out, and othetimes tucked away. Its only in the feeding area, because he does nothing but bask in the aquarium. When I do put him in the aquirium water, he swims to the bottom. He isnt floating lopsided, only the spine, or middle of the shell, sticks out when floating, but I can poke it down to cause hims to sink, and it floats right back up. Also, I see bubles on his nose when I first place him in the feeding area. The feeding area also depends, I have three different bowls and all different sizes that I use.

If he only does it in the feeding dish, try using less water in it.
